Frequently Asked Questions
We answer all the questions we are frequently asked about the courses we offer at CECAT below.
We don’t expect any specific educational background or skill set to study Art Therapy at CECAT. A certain level of maturity and a passion for therapeutic change is all that’s needed.
Is it possible to enrol directly into the online program or is the Introductory Course a prerequisite?
The Introductory Course is compulsory but most of our students actually start with the online Certificate Course (10 modules). At some stage, they then do the Introductory Course before completing the 5-Day Intensive.
Unfortunately, we do not support HECS-HELP loans or VET FEE-HELP. Doing so, would force us to increase our fees astronomically due to the compliance complexities involved. Our goal is to provide an outstanding education program for our students along with the lowest fee structure possible.
The only students who qualify for RPL are students who have a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy. Our courses focus specifically on how to work with clients through art in psychotherapy and counselling, not on general art or psychotherapy.
Yes. You can’t become a clinical psychologist without having studied psychology. If you have a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, you may skip some of the modules.
The Introduction Course is an enriching experience for people who work, or would like to work, with children, adolescents and adults in the practice of art therapy.
Over two days participants will draw, paint and be introduced step-by-step to the concepts involved in art therapy.
Day one focuses on figurative images, such as things we can see in our environment, while day two has an emphasis on abstract imagery. Both days provide an overview of the practical application of art therapy in the workplace.
Pre-reading will be emailed to registrants.
The Introduction Course gives participants a chance to decide if they wish to further their study and enrol in the online Certificate Course.
We prefer students to complete the Introduction Course as it provides an important foundation for studying art therapy.
