Diploma Course in Art Therapy

This module explores the relationship between mind and body in therapeutic practice. Students examine research and clinical approaches that support healing through unconscious processes, psychological integration and the mind–body connection.

This module focuses on working with children, families and complex group systems. Students learn how to navigate conflict, clarify relational roles and facilitate change while maintaining clear therapeutic boundaries and professional scope of practice.

This module explores the application of art therapy across a broad range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, personality disorders and related presentations. Informed by extensive clinical experience and psychiatric research, students learn how specific art therapy approaches can be applied and adapted to different presentations. The module supports the development of clinical insight, helping students recognise patterns, tailor interventions and work effectively with diverse client needs.

This module explores trauma-informed approaches within art therapy, focusing on the processing and integration of emotionally overwhelming experiences. Students learn how to work with unconscious material to support deep emotional processing, reducing reactivity while allowing experiences to be understood and integrated.

The module develops the capacity to work with trauma in a way that supports lasting change, helping clients move beyond symptom management towards a more settled, integrated and reflective relationship with their experiences.

This module explores how art therapy can be integrated with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), building on established frameworks while extending their depth and effectiveness. Students learn how to combine structured, goal-oriented approaches with the insights that emerge through unconscious processes in art therapy.

The module develops the ability to work with both conscious and unconscious material, supporting change that is not only practical and immediate, but also meaningful and sustainable over time. This integrative approach reflects current developments in psychotherapy, offering a more comprehensive way of understanding and supporting clients.
